Many attractions and shops in Copenhagen close on public holidays. Here is an overview of holidays in 2016.

The public holidays in Denmark 2016 are:

27 Marc 2016 (Easter Sunday)
28 March 2016 (Easter Monday) 
22 April 2016 (Day of Prayer)
5 May 2016 (Ascension Day)
15 May 2016 (Whit Sunday) 
16 May 2016 (Whit Monday)
5 June 2016 (Constitution Day) 
24 December 2016 (Christmas Eve)
25 December 2016 (Christmas Day)
26 December 2016 (Boxing Day)
1 January 2017 (New Year's Day) 

In Denmark, Christmas is celebrated in the evening 24 December. Thus attractions and many shops are closed that day, as well as on New Year's Eve, 31 December.

Opening hours

Since the liberalisation of the socalled Danish closing hour law 1 October 2012, the shops in Copenhagen are allowed to stay open every Sunday and longer on Saturdays and weekdays.
