Démodé
Close to the King’s Garden lies Démodé, a Southern French gem with a focus on high-quality ingredients.
In a beautiful and impressive corner building with a stone façade on Kronprinsessegade, located right by the King’s Garden, you’ll find Démodé. Restaurant Démodé is a Southern French oasis in the heart of Copenhagen, where the focus is on simple, flavorful dishes with high-quality ingredients at the center. Here, guests can explore the restaurant’s à la carte menu or let the kitchen compose a three- or five-course meal. The menu features vegetables, fish, and poultry — all served with an emphasis on the ingredients that define Southern French cuisine. Behind the restaurant are three good friends: Rasmus Grønbech, Mads Magnus Nørgaard, and Lasse Askov. Together, they have an impressive shared résumé, which includes Michelin-recognized restaurants such as Grønbech & Churchill.
The restaurant’s name, Démodé, sparks curiosity. The name is French and means “outdated” or “old-fashioned.” It’s difficult to pinpoint exactly why this Southern French gem received that name. Perhaps it’s due to the restaurant’s classic and elegant interior, with polished silverware, white tablecloths, and thick cloth napkins that evoke a bygone era. Or maybe it’s a nod to the wine list, which features French wines of older vintages — who knows?
