Is Copenhagen worth visiting in November?

Yes, Copenhagen can absolutely be worth visiting in November, especially if you don’t mind shorter days and unpredictable weather. It’s a transitional month, with autumn gradually giving way to winter and the first Christmas traditions beginning to appear across the city.

Copenhagen weather in November

Temperatures tend to be on the chilly side, so bring warm layers and something that will keep out the rain. The changing weather makes it a good idea to mix outdoor exploring with visits to Copenhagen’s museums, galleries and cafés.

Shorter days, more time indoors

Daylight becomes noticeably shorter throughout November. In 2026, Copenhagen has around 9 hours and 15 minutes of daylight on 1 November, with sunrise at 7:15 and sunset at 16:30, and the days continue to shorten throughout the month.

That doesn’t have to stop you exploring the city. Use the daylight hours for a walk through Copenhagen’s neighbourhoods or along the waterfront, and save museums, galleries and cafés for later in the day. A grey or rainy afternoon is also a good excuse to explore some of Copenhagen’s many indoor experiences.

What to wear in Copenhagen in November

Layers are your friend in November. Bring a warm coat along with knitwear or other layers that are easy to add or remove throughout the day. A waterproof outer layer and comfortable shoes that can handle wet weather are also worth packing.

What’s on in November

November is when Copenhagen slowly begins to shift into Christmas mode. On 6 November 2026, J-Day marks the annual release of Tuborg’s Christmas beer. At exactly 20:59, the beer is released and the occasion is celebrated at bars and pubs across Copenhagen. Read more about the Danish tradition of Christmas beer here.

November also marks the beginning of Copenhagen’s Christmas season. Christmas at Tivoli Gardens begins during the month, and several Christmas markets around the city start to open, giving you an early taste of Christmas in Copenhagen. Things to do on a grey day

Grey skies don’t have to get in the way of exploring Copenhagen. Head indoors and spend a few hours at one of the city’s museums or galleries, find a cosy café for coffee and something sweet, or embrace the colder weather with a sauna and a dip in the harbour.

Copenhagen has plenty of options for days when you would rather spend more time indoors, from art and design to food and culture. If you’re planning to visit several attractions or use public transport frequently during your stay, it may also be worth considering a Copenhagen Card. And if you do feel like venturing outside, you can always mix indoor stops with a walk through the city in between.
