Do Copenhagen in 24 hours

Are you only spending one day in Copenhagen? The city has lots to offer and we have selected some of our favourite places you can explore in 24 hours.

Start the day with breakfast at Torvehallerne. At that time, there are not many people but it is nice to sit by the windows or outside in quiet surroundings while sleepy Copenhagen wakes up. You can enjoy a cup of coffee from Coffee Collective, delicious bread fresh baked on the spot or porridge like you have never tried it before, at GRØD.

If you want to go shopping, you can walk from Torvehallerne to Strøget and even better, the area around nearby Pilestræde and make sure not to miss the small charming side streets. After being in a world of fashion, you should walk down to the canal just off the square Amagertorv to hop on a sightseeing boat and experience the beauty of the city and most of the top sights from the water.

Maybe it is time for lunch? If you're already in the center of the city, you're fortunate enough to be surrounded by great lunch options in different categories. From smørrebrød to restaurants, juicy burgers and cool cafés.

TRAVEL TIP: If you only have one day in Copenhagen, a 24-hour Copenhagen Card would be the ideal way to get the most out of it. With a Copenhagen Card in hand you get free admission to more than 80 attractions and museums and unlimited transportation.

Museums and New Nordic Kitchen

One of the great things about Copenhagen is that you can walk to almost everything. It is really the best way to explore the city. After lunch, you should visit some of the most visited museums in Copenhagen, The National Gallery of DenmarkNy Carlsberg Glyptotek or The National Museum and remember to stop by a cozy café and enjoy the local atmosphere. Note, that Copenhagen Card gives you free admission to more than 70 museums and attractions and free public transportation in the entire Copenhagen Region.

As Copenhagen is world famous for its gastronomy, you should try one of the New Nordic restaurants, for example Höst.

If you are visiting Copenhagen in Spring or on a Summer day, you can enjoy the sun in King’s Garden where all the locals are hanging out or you can take a nice walk in the garden and see Rosenborg Castle. You can also visit the Tivoli Gardens where you besides the rides, can go for a dinner at one of the restaurants in the old garden.
