Koefoed

Koefoed is a gastronomic tribute to Bornholm in the heart of Copenhagen.

In the heart of Copenhagen, between Store Kongensgade and Borgergade, you’ll find Restaurant Koefoed – a gastronomic tribute to Bornholm and its exceptional local ingredients. The restaurant is located below street level in a former coal cellar. The interior is bright and cozy, consisting of several smaller rooms that create an intimate and homely atmosphere. The small, charming nooks of the restaurant are beautifully adorned with raw, whitewashed arches and vaults, inevitably evoking associations with the unique round churches of Bornholm. If you visit Koefoed for lunch, a wide selection of traditional Danish open-faced sandwiches (smørrebrød) is served, while dinner offers various tasting menus or an à la carte menu with a range of different options. Everything – from the beverages and dishes to the ingredients – reflects the restaurant’s deep love for the island of Bornholm. Koefoed’s signature dish is, in fact, a snack interpretation of perhaps the most well-known open-faced sandwich from Bornholm – Sol over Gudhjem. The majority of the kitchen’s ingredients come from farms on Bornholm, with which the restaurant maintains close partnerships. With your meal, you can enjoy wine from an extensive selection that includes everything the heart could desire – wines that beautifully complement the dining experience. Particularly noteworthy is the restaurant’s impressive collection of both Bordeaux and Burgundy wines.
