H.U.G Bakery

At H.U.G Bakery, gluten-free baking is anything but a compromise. Located on Øster Farimagsgade in Copenhagen, the bakery specialises in organic, gluten-free bread and baked goods, with a focus on great taste and quality.

The story behind H.U.G Bakery goes back to founder Mette Marie Sarbo’s childhood, where baking played a big part in family life. Her interest in baking later became part of the Copenhagen tea salon Tante T, which she opened with her brother in 2006. After moving to Fredensborg, she began experimenting with gluten-free baking and eventually opened what became Det Glutenfri Bageatelier.

In 2020, the bakery moved to Østerbro and became H.U.G Bakery. The name stands for Helt Uden Gluten, meaning "completely gluten-free" in Danish, while also playing on the idea of a warm hug.

Today, H.U.G Bakery is run by Mette Marie and her partner Philippe Lefebvre, continuing the bakery’s dedication to organic, gluten-free baking.
