Greater Copenhagen Light Rail

The Greater Copenhagen Light Rail makes it easy and convenient to experience exciting destinations outside Copenhagen – from culture and nature in Ishøj and Rødovre to shopping and student life in Lyngby. With departures every 5-10 minutes, bicycle-friendly transport and modern stations with information in Danish and English, the light rail is your new shortcut to experiences in the capital region.

The newly opened light rail line runs outside central Copenhagen and connects the city with smaller towns in Greater Copenhagen area via good connections to S-train stations and bus lines in Copenhagen and the rest of the region.

Until the summer of 2026, the Light Rail will run between Ishøj Municipality and Rødovre Municipality. After that, the line will be extended to run all the way to Lyngby-Taarbæk Municipality, with departures every 5 minutes.

Trains run every 10 minutes from 5 a.m. to midnight on weekdays and from 6 a.m. to midnight on weekends.

You can bring your bicycle without having to purchase an extra ticket.

The light rail stations feature lifts, information screens, and loudspeaker announcements in both Danish and English.
