Gl. Holtegaard
Take an art break just north of Copenhagen at Gl. Holtegaard, where contemporary art, historic architecture and a beautiful Baroque garden set the scene for your visit.

Gl. Holtegaard brings together contemporary and modern art, historic architecture and beautiful gardens just north of Copenhagen. Set in an elegant Baroque country house built in 1756 by architect Lauritz de Thurah, the art gallery offers a distinctive setting for discovering art at a slower pace.
Changing exhibitions introduce leading international and Scandinavian artists, with a particular focus on sculpture. The historic rooms create intimate encounters with the artworks, while the relationship between art, architecture and landscape extends beyond the house. Exhibitions by artists such as Tal R and Georg Baselitz reflect the ambition of the programme.
Outside, the Baroque garden invites visitors to explore its symmetrical paths, fountains and apple trees. Sculptures enter into dialogue with the landscape as Gl. Holtegaard develops its sculpture park, adding new perspectives to the historic surroundings. The garden is open to everyone throughout the year, with free admission.
Make a day of your visit: explore the exhibition, stroll through the grounds and enjoy lunch, coffee or cake at Café alma. Families can also discover the playground at the far end of the park. Whether you come for the art, the garden or a peaceful escape from the city, Gl. Holtegaard offers space for curiosity, conversation and reflection.
