Flavor of Sichuan

Flavor of Sichuan brings the bold and distinctive flavours of China’s Sichuan province to Valby. Founded by Chengdu native Emma Fang, the restaurant offers a more regional and authentic take on Chinese cuisine, focusing on the dishes and flavours she grew up with rather than the broad mix of recipes often found on traditional Chinese restaurant menus.

Inspired by both the food culture of Chengdu and Copenhagen’s relaxed café scene, Flavor of Sichuan combines comforting surroundings with homemade dishes built around quality ingredients and time-honoured recipes. The menu centres on rice bowls and classic Sichuan specialities, all served with unlimited buckwheat tea and homemade pickles, just as they would be enjoyed in many local eateries across Chengdu.

Guests can explore signature dishes such as the famous Mapo Tofu, where silky tofu and minced pork are served in a rich, spicy and numbing chilli bean sauce, or Twice Cooked Pork Belly, a Sichuan favourite stir-fried with peppers and fermented chilli bean paste. The Sauerkraut Fish offers tender fish slices in a tangy broth with pickled mustard greens, while the popular Yuxiang Eggplant showcases the region’s love of garlic, ginger and chilli. Smaller dishes include cold noodles tossed in house-made chilli oil, steamed pork buns and sweet red bean buns.

Whether you are discovering Sichuan cuisine for the first time or looking for a taste of home, Flavor of Sichuan offers an inviting dining experience where authentic flavours, warm hospitality and everyday comfort come together in the heart of Valby.
