Amator

At Café Amator, where calm and warmth fill the atmosphere, you can enjoy delicious, seasonal dishes, with their omelet as the undeniable showstopper.

In the picturesque and peaceful district of Østerbro, you’ll find a cozy little café called Amator – a warm, homely haven filled with gentle tunes and the inviting scent of butter on the pan. Here, the star of the menu shines brightly: the French classic made from fluffy eggs and butter – the omelet. In addition, you can enjoy delicious, crisp salads, fresh juices, coffee, sweet pastries, and hearty dishes, all prepared with seasonal fruits and vegetables.

Behind Amator stands omelet master Mati Pichci, who grew up in Warsaw. Pichci began his culinary journey in Copenhagen as an intern at the Michelin-starred restaurant Noma. He later worked as a chef and manager at the popular Atelier September. His Polish roots are particularly evident in the café’s name, Amator, which is Polish for “amateur.” Why the café carries this name remains a mystery – because nothing about the place feels amateurish. Perhaps the name reflects the café’s warm, homely, and welcoming atmosphere. When you step inside, you’re greeted by shelves lined with vinyl records, a record player spinning softly, and jars of homemade preserves. The interior was designed in collaboration with Polish architect and friend of Pichci, Adam Wierciński, founder of Wierciński Studio.

During the day, you can enjoy delicious breakfast and lunch dishes. In the evening, after closing hours, private dinner gatherings are held by candlelight.
