Bring the kids

Two children under the age of 12 can travel free of charge when accompanied by an adult with a valid ticket. Children travelling alone has to pay a child fare until the age of 16. Two children under the age of 16 can travel together on one adult ticket.

Baby prams are allowed free of charge on all means of public transportation.

Bring the bike

Take the bike with you on buses, trains and metro, but beware of the different rules and regulations. Please note that cargo bikes etc. are not permitted.

Bikes on buses:

You can bring one bike per person on some buses in Copenhagen. Only two bikes will fit on one bus though, and you have to calculate with baby prams and rush hour as well. The bus driver has the final say, and in general not many locals will take their bike onboard a bus. If you do, you need a bike ticket, which costs DKK 13 and needs to be purchased at the train or metro station, as it is not sold on the bus. If you plan to travel a lot with your bike on public transportation, you can save money by buying a 10-trip bike card, which costs DKK 115.

Bikes on S-trains:

You can bring your bike for free onboard the S-trains. However you are not permitted to get on or off the train with your bike at Nørreport Station during rush hour, which is Monday - Friday 07:00-08:30 and 15:30-17:00.

Bikes on the metro:

You can bring your bike on the metro during normal hours, if you purchase a bike ticket, which costs DKK 13. During rush hour, which is Monday - Friday 07:00-09:00 and 15:30-17:30, it is not permitted to travel with your bike on the metro.

Bring the pets

You can bring one small dog or other type of pet on buses, trains and metro for free as long as you have a carrier or bag for it. The size of the bag must not exceed 100 x 60 x 30 cm, and it must not occupy a seat for another passenger. Thus place it on your lap or by your feet.
