With marriage equality it has now also become possible for non-resident same-gender couples to marry in Denmark.

DANISH LGTB HISTORY

1948: The world's first national association for gays and lesbians was founded in Denmark.
1989: Denmark introduced same-gender civil union as the first country in the world.
2009: Full adoption rights were granted to same-gender couples in Denmark who had entered civil unions.
2012: Denmark introduced same-gender marriage equality, also including faith-based weddings.
