1-9 March, the Royal Ballet invites to Ballet Festival with events around Copenhagen. The festival will be a celebration of dance with both beloved classics and exiting new acquaintances.
The variety of ballet shows at both the Old Stage, the Opera House and the Royal Playhouse will be accompanied by, for example, talks about ballet’s influence on Denmark and an Italian street party with food stalls and plenty of entertainment. The festival culminates 9 June in a large gala show with five international stars from France, Russia, Italy, Great Britain and the US.
As a run-up to the festival, the Royal Ballet travels through Denmark to teach people how to dance ballet. Every Sunday in the first three weeks in May, the Royal Theatre’s Artistic Director Nikolaj Hübbe presents three new ballet moves for people to practice the following week. Together, these steps will form a ballet which everyone can take part in on King's New Square 2 June during the festival.
