Transport to Copenhagen

Copenhagen has a central location in Europe which makes it easy to arrive by train, bus, ferry, cruise ship or flight.

Copenhagen Airport is only eight kilometres away from the city centre. It is the busiest airport in Scandinavia with more than 60,000 passengers a day. From the airport you can catch the Metrobus or train to city centre.

The Central Station is another popular way to arrive. Each day several buses and trains from all over Europe arrive here. The Central Station has a central location in the city, but if necessary it is easy to get on a bus or the S-train to your final destination.

Copenhagen Harbour welcomes hundreds of cruise ships a year. There are two terminals, Copenhagen Cruise Terminal at Langelinie Quay and the Freeport Terminal a little north of the city centre.

Free transport by train etc.

When arriving in Copenhagen with a Copenhagen Card in hand, you will get free transport by trainbus and Metro in the entire Copenhagen Region - also from/to the airport.

Copenhagen Airport is situated only eight kilometers outside of Copenhagen city centre. With 60,000 passengers a day it is the bussiest airport in Scandinavia. At the airport you have plenty of opportunities for tax free shopping and dinner and drinks before or after your flight. Transport from the airport to city centre is fast and easy by either bus, train, taxi or Metro.

Copenhagen Central Station is located in the heart of the city, bordering to the rough but also trendy Vesterbro. It is a gateway to all public transportation in and out and around Copenhagen. Here you will find buses, taxis, local S-trains as well as regional trains which will take you to North Sealand, other areas of Denmark, Sweden and most of Europe - and the airport.

There are many ways getting to Copenhagen. Eurail Denmark Pass entitles you to rail travel in Denmark.

If you are heading northward to Elsinore or in that direction, you can take Kystbanen - the coastal train route. The train runs between Elsinore via Copenhagen city centre to Copenhagen Airport. And why not take a day trip to Swedish Malmö? It only takes 35 minutes on the train across the Øresund Bridge (NB! Not free with Copenhagen Card).

Oresund Bridge offers an easy and fast way to get from Denmark to Sweden. It consists of both a bridge, a tunnel and the artificial island Peberholmen.
