Frederiksborg Castle

Home of the Museum of National History from 1440 to until today. Dating from the 16th century, it also contains the coronation chapel of the Danish kings.

Kronborg Castle (Hamlet's castle)

Magnificent Renaissance castle from 1585 and the setting of Shakespeare's play about Hamlet, Prince of Denmark. Now a museum offering a glimpse of a royal residence. Houses the largest hall of knights in Europe.

Eremitage PalaceErimetageslottet

Rococo palace built by Christian IV with an informal and secret dining-room to be used during hunting parties. Set in the forest of Dyrehaven.

Jægerspris Palace

A small palace with memorial rooms to King Frederik VII and his wife Countess Danner.

Marienlyst Palace

Dates from 1760, and the top floor houses original Louis Seize interiors.

Roskilde Cathedral

Sepulchral chapels of Danish kings and queens; shows their history of the past 800 years. Burial place of King Frederik IX since 1985.

Palæsamlingerne i Roskilde

The collections are accommodated in part of a royal palace from 1733. They form a small but interesting museum of cultural history, exhibiting funiture and other items belonging to merchant families from the 18th and 19th centuries.
