The Royal Library - also called "The Black Diamond"
Treat yourself to a look inside!
The nickname arose because of the dramatic addition (in 1999) to the old original library. Steel, glass and black granit are the main materials used for this modernistic building.
Architects Schmidt, Hammer & Lassen have been inspired by the northern lights when they created the interior. The central part of the building is cloven by a gigantic division with ondulating balconies and a fantastic view from the top gallery.
You will, naturally, find a reading room with a a large selection of periodicals, magazines and other publications and can easily pass a few hours here, away from the bad weather outdoors!
