Foreign movies are seldom dubbed
You won't get your favourite movie star speaking German or Spanish, when they open their mouth on the screen in an American or French film. In Denmark only films specifically aimed at a child audience will ocasionally be dubbed with Danish voices.
You can therefore enjoy all films in their original languages. In Denmark instead of dubbing we use subtitles.
International fame
In the last decade there has been a very positive development in the Danish movie-industry - to some, names like Lars von Trier, Thomas Vinterberg and Bille August ring a bell. They are Danish film directors of some fame - of course, if you happen upon one of their films in the cinemas, they will be played in the original language - which is Danish.
