Paradis Is all over town
In just four years, Paradis Is has opened ten ice cream outlets in the capital. Thor Thorøe, the man behind, has worked in an Italian gelateria, and this was the start of his ice cream dynasty. Paradis Is' trademark is that the ice cream is never more than 24 hours old, and the choices of flavour follow the seasons. One of the Paradis Is classics is chocolate ice cream. It consists of a blend of sweet, light cocoa and strong dark cocoa. Simply heaven! There are outlets in the districts of Amager, Østerbro, Vesterbro, Frederiksberg, Nørrebro, Hellerup, Valby, city centre and in Hørsholm.

Hansen Ishus by the lakes
If you want to add a sweet touch to your Sunday stroll around the Lakes, a stop at Hansens Ishus by Lille Trianglen is a must. The ice cream is made from old recipes from 1922 when Hans Hansen himself stood behind the counter and sold fresh ice cream. Times have changed, but not the ice cream. Hans Hansens grandson has taken over the business and still makes ice cream from quality products the way his grandfather did back in the old days.

Vanilla in the district of Vestebro  
Owned by Jolanta Kecowska, originally from Bulgaria, but her ice cream is Italian. Here there are 25 flavours, the common ones as well as the more exotic varieties such as the chocolate/chili-ice cream. The ice machine comes from Italy, from where Jolanta also gets the various concentrates, say for example strawberry, which she then mixes into her basic ice cream. Half the ice cream at Vanilla's is made of milk, the other half is sherbet and ice cream without sugar or fat.

Markus Grigo in Tivoli
The German dessert chef has worked at the gourmet restaurant Søllerød Kro for eight years. In 2005 he chose to open his own ice cream shop with primarilly creamy, non-fat sorbets by Lille Trianglen, and for two years Copenhageners were thrilled by his gourmet ice cream. However, this year Markus Grigo moved to Tivoli, where you will now find his shop in front of Cafe Viften in the famous gardens. You can choose from a selection of 12 flavours. If you are heading north of Copenhagen, Markus Grigo also has an ice cream shop in Hornbæk.
