Vesterbro - the former red light district

During the last ten years Vesterbro has undergone a massive transformation and is no longer the bad neighbourhood where it was not entirely safe to go at night - instead it is now an attractive and fashionable place to live and hang out.

Hang out at Halmtorvet
On Halmtorvet, a former red light district in Copenhagen, a number of cafes and restaurants have opened during the last years and during summer-time the sidewalks are crowded with tables and coffee sipping people.

Cocktailbars and the popular night club VEGA
Istedgade is another busy place on Vesterbro and there are many great places to go for dinner, drinks and coffee before heading to for example the popular night club VEGA or the cocktailbar Boutique Lize, which are great places to spend the night.

During daytime Istedgade and the side streets are also a great place to go shopping - there are many small up-coming designershops that are worth visiting.
