A romantic sightseeing tour in Copenhagen might as well begin at Thorvaldsen Museum. The museum opened in 1848 in memory of the great Danish sculptor Bertel Thorvaldsen, who is buried in the museum yard. The museum has his works and private art collection on display. Begin at the sculpture of Cupid and Psyche, which portrays the God of erotic love and beauty, who is known for sending his arrows through people's hearts.

The Winter Garden Glyptotekets forhalat Glyptoteket

The brewer Carl Jacobsen, who created one of the largest private art collections of his time, founded Ny Carlsberg Glyptotek. It was named after his brewery, Ny Carlsberg, with the addition of "Glyptotek", meaning collection of sculptures. Glyptoteket houses one of the most extensive collections of sculptures, Danish, French and ancient art. The beautiful Winter Garden, drawn by Danish architect Henning Larsen for the French paintings, provides a very romantic setting for an art experience.

The Royal Theatre's Old Stage is situated in a beautiful renaissance building at Kongens Nytorv square, which was originally built in 1748. Red velvet seats, crystal chandelier and gilt decorations create the perfect frame for a romantic evening with ballet, dance, classical music, opera or theatre. It requires a ticket to a show or a tour to enter The Royal Theatre.

Gammel Holtegaard in Holte, north of Copenhagen, offers non-permanent exhibitions of Danish and international art, ancient and modern, paintings, sculptures and photographs. But for lovebirds the appurtenant Baroque Park is the force of attraction. Laurids de Thurah laid the park in 1755 with fruit tree avenues, fountains and arcades, and every Sunday afternoon in summer there are open-air concerts with jazz and classical music.
