Bike rentals

Copenhagen is easy to get around and is often seen best on foot. But if you want to get around a little faster, do as the Copenhageners and hop on a bike.

Bikes on the train 

Renting a bike is also a good idea if you are planning a trip outside the city centre. Bikes can be taken along on the trains, but you cannot get off or on at Nørreport Station with a bike during weekdays 07:00 - 08:30 and 15:30 - 17:00, due to rush hour traffic.

Throughout 2010 it is free to bring your bike on the S-trains. When getting on the train, look for the white bicycle symbol on the doors, as these areas are reserved for bikes. Stay close to your bike during the trip.

Baisikeli bike rental 

Rent a bike and help fight poverty. Baisikeli is swahili for bicycle, but it is also the name of the little sustainable bike rental shop in Turesensgade in Copenhagen.

The bike rental is all about renting out second hand bikes (mainly bought or donated by Danish insurance companies) to tourists and students in order to finance an annual shipment of 1,200 bikes to Tanzania, Sierra Leone and Ghana.

There the bikes are rebuild into meeting the African needs. None of the bikes at Baisikeli are similar, so the prices differ. A six hour rental costs DKK 60 - 130.

Copenhagen Bicycle Exchange

Copenhagen Bicycle Exchange was founded in 1881 and has played an important role throughout the history of Copenhagen bicycle culture.

The shop rents as well as sells and repairs bikes. Delivery and pick-up if bikes can be arranged at your request.

Rent a Bike is the largest bicycle rental company in Copenhagen with many years of experience. The company rents as well as sells and repairs bikes.

Here you can rent three-speed touring bikes, tandems, mountainbikes (MTBs), bike trailers, bags, child seats, bikes for kids and trailers for kids.

Rent A Bike has two shops in inner Copenhagen and Østerbro:
