World Cup fever is raging all round the world, and in Copenhagen, football fans are ready to watch their idols on big screens. Here is a list of where you can see the World Cup matches.
Ofelia Beach Bar
Copenhagen's new beach bar, Strandbar Ofelia at Sankt Annæ Plads next to the Royal Danish Playhouse (Skuespilhuset) will be showing 21 matches from 11 June to 11 July.
English pub atmosphere at Gastropub Public House
As the name of Gastropub Public House in Vestervoldgade implies, the menu has an English inspiration. You can enjoy a number of new interpretations of classic English dishes such as fish 'n' chips and Beef Wellington while you watch the Danish guys' ball skills in South Africa.
B&W Gastropub
At B&W Gastropub in Fortunstræde there are two televisions where you can follow the matches - one in the restaurant and one in the bar. The owners are two well-known faces on the restaurant scene in Copenhagen - Jakob Blom and Christian Willumsen, who in this case will be serving football with good food (or was it the other way around?) The kitchen is open from 11:00 to 22:00 or later on Fridays and Saturdays.
World Cup in a South African Bar
At Østerbrogade 112, you can find Magraths South African Bar, where the opening hours are being adjusted to the World Cup programme and the bar is running at full speed during the championship. The bar offers a beer and wine selection with "genuine African tastes". Two big screen are available, so you can watch two matches at once. And there are two large draught beers for DKK 69.
Football in Tivoli
On the Open Air Stage in Tivoli you can see the Danish World Cup matches on a big screen on 19 and 24 June from 19:00 onwards. Tivoli will be warming up to the football festivities with a DJ playing classic football songs from 19:00 before kick-off at 20:30. There will be stalls selling beer and other drinks. The football events are included in the entrance fee to Tivoli.
Pub and Sport
Pub and Sport at Vestervoldgade is, as the name suggests, geared up for large sports events. It is a pool centre and a sports bar, and is the place where sports fans meet for big sporting events in front of a big TV screen. The pub is promising a fantastic atmosphere, is showing all matches and will be open in plenty of time for each kick-off. Opening hours follow the World Cup programme.
Commentators and competitions at Park Café
Park Café is warming up for some serious football with a grill buffet and draught beer ad libitum. Henrik Larsen, who was top scorer during the 1992 World Cup match against Sweden has been invited to be commentator of the matches. Before kick-off there will be competitions and Park Café will give shots for every Danish goal. The complete package with grill and beer costs DKK 199. On match days the café will open around two hours before kick-off.
Football at the brewery
For the World Cup, Nørrebro Bryghus, the micro-brewery in Ryesgade in the district of Nørrebro, will have spare ribs from the grill, coleslaw and chips on offer - as well as large draught beers of course. The brewery will be showing the matches which are being transmitted on Danish TV channels DR and TV2 throughout the championship. Students get 10 percent discount on draught beer during the championship.
More places to see the World Cup
O'Leary's at Copenhagen Central Station will be showing World Cup football on three large screens and 42 flat screens. The cosy Irish pub The Globe in Nørregade will be looking after Dutch fans on 14 June.
