Karriere - new bar

Are you into art, cocktails and organic food? In the trendy district of Vesterbro in Copenhagen a new 600 sq. metres cafe, restaurant and bar has it all. The artist Jeppe Hein and his sister Lærke Hein are behind the new and fashionable Karriere - Contemperary Art & Social Life.

An old slaughterhouse in Den Hvide Kødby (the meatpacking district) is the frame for the newly opened Karriere. The Place is a blend between a trendy bar, a brasserie, a music venue and an alternative art gallery, where more than 30 of the absolute hottest Danish and foreign artists will exhibit their works. Apart from the permanent and temporary exhibitions, concerts, lectures, cultural events, dj's and movies are on the menu.

Royal sous chef
Behind the new concept is the Danish artist Jeppe Hein and his sister Lærke Hein, who is responsible for the day-to-day running of the place. Head chef is Morten Haukaas, who has worked in cities like London, Marsaille and Sienna, and sous chef is Jakob Bundgaard, who learned from the best at the Michelin-starred Søllerød Kro and has the Danish royal family as his former employer. Together they offer a modern and dynamic kitchen, using mainly organic produce in the breakfast, brasserie and evening menus. When the kitchen closes, the bartenders continue serving cocktails into the night.

Karriere Grant
At Karriere, art is a natural part of meeting, eating, drinking, relaxing and having fun, spurring communication, reflection and play. Thus the bar is a sculpture in its own right, and in the bathrooms you not only see yourself in the mirror! If you buy the beer ‘sving' you automatically donate 7 per cent of the profit to Karriere Grant, which is awarded to individuals and organisations in the district of Vesterbro - and you can make suggestions as to who the recipient should be.
