Danish gastronomy wins again

Rasmus KofoedJust a month and a half after Danish restaurant NOMA was awarded the title of World's Best Restaurant, Danish gastronomy has won again. This time it is chef Rasmus Kofoed who has received the title of Europe's Best Chef.

Norwegian halibut and Swiss veal were the main disciplines when the European Championship for chefs, the prestigious Bocuse d'Or Europe, was held on 8 June 2010 in Geneva. The reigning European champion, Norway, had to be content with second place, with France taking bronze. In all, 24 countries took part.

Right at the top

Every second year, the Bocuse d'Or Europe's global equivalent, the Bocuse d'Or, is also awarded. Rasmus Kofoed has not yet one the global award. However, he has uniquely won silver and bronze, and will have the chance to go for gold in January 2011 in Lyon, France.

Rasmus trained at the Hotel d'Angleterre in Copenhagen and has also been head chef at Krogs Fiskrestaurant, Egoisten, TyvenKokkenOsv., Gastronomique and Geranium.
