Although pink and light blue colours are still dominant in most children's clothing stores, there are also places that sell something a little more special for the kids. Clothes in bright colors, fun cuddly toys or the purest organic wool for the newborn. Here is a guide to Copenhagen's kids clothing and assecories shops.

Alfen og Feen

In the Frederiksberg area Alfen og Feen - which means the elf and the fairy in Danish - has a small shop packed with romantic kids clothes. The dominant colour is pink, but the goods are in a class of their own compared to the usual mainstream children's wear. The shop seems to revolve around the theme of fairytales.

Here you will find lightchains, pillows, princess dresses with glitter, small paintings with princess crowns, drums and tin soldiers. The clothes are Danish-produced clothes of good quality, by the likes of Danish designer Krista Lynggaard who has created simple, bohemian-style clothing since 2002.

Alfen og Feen also sells children's shoes from Pom d'api and Primigi, and at holidays such as Christmas you can find costumes from Eventyrkompagniet.

Area

You will find Area in Store Kongensgade in Copenhagen city centre. The shop sells household items in adult as well as kids height. In the children's department you will find teddy bears, wooden toys, baby furniture and clothes from the Danish children's wear brand Katvig.

Astas

Astas is a clothing shop on Nikolaj Plads square just behind the main pedestrian shopping street Strøget in the heart of Copenhagen. Owner Christina Krøyer has created a children's universe of clothing and toys inspired by the past times, but still modern.

Baby Kompagniet

Baby Kompagniet is a children's clothing shop online with the latest trends in clothes for children from zero to eight years old. The focus is on quality, unique designs and colourful prints from brands such as Moonkids, Mini Nümph, MiomyMio, Ziestha, Katvig, Silke og Suus, Småfolk, Plastisock, Ej sikke lej and Norlie.

Barnlil

In Smallegade in the Frederiksberg area you will find Barnlil by Tanja Loch. Barnlil offers a series of well-known kids clothing brands like Babushka, Milibe, Moonkids, Småfolk, Ej sikke lej, Nowali and many more.

Créme de la créme a la Edgar

There is one children's clothing shop in Copenhagen, which one should not miss. It is a shop you will want to return to time after time. A few steps down the stairs in Kompagnistræde and you have entered into a magical cave selling everything a mother heart desires.

Childrens brands like Marimekko, Holly's baby and not least patchwork in fine fabrics, cardigans, slippers, aprons and many other delicious things designed by owner Helle Høgsbro Krag herself. Helle even designs matching outfits for mother and daughter or father and son.

Den Blå Ballon

In Østerbro you will find Den Blå Ballon, which sells second hand children's clothing from brands like Burberry, Oilily, Rohde, Diesel and Kenzo. They usually expensive brands are sold here at about half price, so chances of finding a good deal are good. You can also find a few toys on the shelves.

Elmebørn

In Elmegade in the district of Nørrebro you will find Elmebørn. Another children's clothing store with a carefully selected supply which will appeal to the style conscious mother or father. Clothes and shoes are available for the zero - 10 year olds.

You can shop for shoes from Angulus, Gola and Bobux as well as clothes from Marimekko, Katvig, Spanish Agatha Ruiz de la Prada and Momo. Elmebørn also sells cups, plates and toys such as the Barbapapa characters. Also hand knitted baby blankets from Blabla, and pillows from Pernittengryn.

Freoli og Lysgaard

If you like bohemian style kids clothing in soft colours and fabrics, then Freoli og Lysgaard is the place to shop. The shops are located in Helsingør (Elsinore), Espergærde and Østerbro in Copenhagen. They sell both clothes for newborn babies, girls, boys and mothers. You can also find bags, shoes and other accessories.

Karrusella

Children's shop in Jorcks Passage by the main pedestrian shopping street Strøget. The shop sells clothes from the likes of Katvig and Småfolk as well as toys, games, children's books and baby stuff.

Milibe

Milibe is a small nostalgic and charming store in the area of Frederiksberg, which primarily sells quality children's shoes in sizes from 18 to 39 (European sizes). Main brand is Danish label Angulus. However the shop also sells its own line of body stockings and blouses.

You can also find clothes inspired by the 1950's, 1960's and 1970's on the hangers - shirts, knickers, dresses, skirts, tights, pants and old-fashioned girl coats. All in retro style. Some vintage stuff is also to be found.

Okker-Gokker

Designers Dorthe Nielsen and Merete Nash started Okker-Gokker in 1997 and now have four children's clothing stores in Greater Copenhagen: Østerbro, Frederiksberg, Lyngby and in the department store Illum.

Purebaby

Organic baby clothes in Willemoesgade in the Østerbro area. Purebaby has a wide range of natural products which combine the practical, the timeless, beautiful details, quality and ecology.
