Copenhagen is a palette of cool and trendy shops, both in terms of luxury clothes, shoes, furniture and handicrafts. But if you want to do a real good bargain, keep an eye out for factory outlets and fairs where you can often find Danish and international designer gear at half the price.
Designer fairs
The large designer fairs take place year round. In Denmark there are some great guides which will announce the sales beforehand. The information is in Danish, but if you are comfortable with that, go to Trendoutlet.dk, Udsalgsguiden.dk or Lagersalgguide.dk.
The largest one is probably Designer Forum, which takes place in Forum Copenhagen every year in May and September. You can also check the website of your favourite designer - and visit the factory outlets below.
Langelinie Outlet
Copenhagen's largest factory outlet is on Langeliniekaj, along the dock past The Little Mermaid, and consists of about 20 shops. Here you will find brands like Georg Jensen, Fila, Martíníque, Noa Noa, Kappa, In Wear, Jackpot, IC Companys, Soaked and Signal.
Royal Copenhagen Factory Outlet
Royal Copenhagen Factory Outlet is located on Søndre Fasanvej 9 in the district of Frederiksberg. The shop is open Monday to Friday from 10:00 to 18:00 and Saturday from 10:00 to 14:00. Here you will find Royal Copenhagen porcelain, dinnerware, figurines and the like in the second sorting or products which have gone out of production. The goods are about 20 percent cheaper than in Royal Copenhagen's Flagship Store on Strøget.
Premier Outlets Center
South of Copenhagen, in Ringsted, you will find Premier Outlets Center, Denmark's largest outlet with 30 brand shops selling clothes, bags and shoes well below the normal price. Often you can save between 30 and 70 percent.
It takes about an hour by car or 35 minutes by train from Copenhagen Central Station to Ringsted Station. From there you should take bus 404 to the Premier Outlets Center.
