The historic European Council meeting

On the 1st of July 2002, Denmark assumed the EU Presidency. At the summit in Copenhagen the Danish EU Presidency carried out the historic task of completing the accession negotiations with the first ten candidate countries: Cyprus, Czech Republic, Estonia, Hungary, Latvia, Lithuania, Malta, Poland, Slovakia and Slovenia.
