Christianshavn

Narrow cobbled streets, award winning restaurants and cosy cafes along the canal. Just across Knippel Bridge is Christianshavn, where you will find all of the above.

Christianshavn is a much desired area for Copenhageners to live. And it is easy to see why. It is close to the city centre, full of restaurants and bars, and with a unique atmosphere.

Enjoy a cold beer by the canal, have dinner at the World’s Best Restaurant 2011: Noma, or get an extraordinaire experience at The Royal Danish Opera. And do not forget to visit the free town Christiania, also situated on Christianshavn.

Baresso is a Danish chain of coffee and espresso shops.

Café Wilder is one of the oldest and most charming cafés in Christianshavn, packed with high-spirited regulars.

Christiania, the free town within the city, is without a doubt one of Denmark’s most popular tourist attractions.

This controversial area is loved by many, but has been a turning point for strong debate especially because of the locals relaxed view on hash and their at times quite anarchistic statements.

Christian's Church in Christianshavn is a popular city-church.

It was consecrated in 1759, and the steeple finished in 1769. It served as a church for the German congregation at Christianshavn until 1886 when it was taken out of use.

Since 1898, people have rented rowing boats at this lovely spot, and in 1996, a café was added to the facilities. It is a wonderful outdoor café, located right by the Christianshavn Canal. Here you will find a refreshing break from the hectic city life.

The spire of Our Saviour's Church hovers over picturesque Christianshavn.

The Danish Centre for Architecture (DAC), aims at displaying trends in Danish and international architecture to ensure continuous public exposure.

It features exhibitions with models, sketches and photographs. Study tours and debate meetings can also be arranged, alongside lectures on subjects connected to the exhibitions.
