Outgames: Get your a.. to Copenhagen
People in Copenhagen aren't afraid to say their opinion. "Get your ass to Copenhagen" is the latest statement from World Outgames.
While the state of South Carolina was firing a public employee for placing an ad proclaiming "Welcome to Gay South Carolina" in a London-based magazine targeted to the substantial British gay community, the city of Copenhagen in Denmark has been investing millions to attract gay tourists from all over the world.
"Get your ass to Copenhagen," is the message in a bold, new ad campaign by the city aimed at getting about 30,000 gay men and women to pack their bags and spend a week celebrating at a festival of lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgender (LGBT) sport, culture and human rights taking place from 25 July - 2 August.
Point-blank effective message
- We wanted to express that everyone within the LGBT segment will be in Copenhagen this summer for the World Outgames. Whatever your race, culture and sexual orientation Copenhagen is the place to be. 'Get your ass to Copenhagen' and the creative execution around it portray this in a bold and attention-grabbing manner. We received great response from around the world and are excited to be part of the event, says Thomas Sonberg, Client Services Director at REPUTATION, who has created the campaign.
World Outgames 2009 is kind of like the Olympics in 3D. It includes amateur sports tournaments, an international human rights conference, and a wide variety of cultural events and parties.
