Denmark's Biggest Hotel Set to Open in 2008
NCC Property Development has agreed on a deal with the Danish hotel chain Cab Inn regarding the development of the biggest hotel in Denmark. The hotel will open in 2008 and offer 700 rooms in the city quarter Ørestad in Copenhagen.
- Our aim is to send the signal that we take design and architecture seriously. In the new hotel in the city quarter Ørestad we will offer the same quality standard as in our other hotels, but the package will be something out of the ordinary, says the Director Niels Fennet, Cab Inn.
NCC Property Development is also happy about the agreement.
Designed by Daniel Libeskind
The Administrating Director Nikolaj Hertel says:
- The hotel will be placed in one of the most visible areas in Ørestad City and will inevitably become a landmark of the town. For this reason it is very pleasant that it is the international known architect Daniel Libeskind himself who will design this exact building. It will in many ways become significant for the town and everything we want to create in relation to city environment and architecture.
The Biggest Hotel
Cab Inn's coming hotel in Ørestad City will open in 2008 and become the biggest hotel in Denmark. With its 700 rooms the hotel will serve participants of the fairs and conventions in the Bella Center, golf tourists at the Royal Golf Center, as well as guests of the Copenhagen University and of course also regular business travellers and tourists.
Beyond the 700 rooms the hotel will also include a breakfast cafe with room for 500 persons, cafe/restaurant for 150 persons, conference centre with room for 200 persons, a lobby bar and a bigger business centre. The entire hotel will offer wireless internet access.
Easy Access to City Centre
The placement of the hotel at the corner of Center Boulevard and Arne Jacobsens Allé in Ørestad will give the guests a grandiose view over Amager Fælledvej and the Royal Golf Center. At the same time the hotel will be right next door to the biggest shopping centre in Denmark, Fields, and the metro, which will provide easy access to the rest of Copenhagen and connecting trains.
Ørestad has long been waiting for its first hotel and the Administrating Director of the Ørestad company, Jens Kramer Mikkelsen is very pleased:
- The new hotel is a natural link in the city development in Ørestad. A hotel attracts people and city life. The guests will need restaurants, cafes etc. near by and in itself the hotel is also a big working space where many people will be having access every day. Both of these elements will create an intense and dynamic town.

Facts about Ørestad
Just a kilometre from Copenhagen Town Hall Square, a new, 310-hectare city area - Ørestad - is taking shape. This previously undeveloped area of Copenhagen, which on one side lies close to the city centre and at its other side is just minutes from Copenhagen Airport, is currently the site of major building projects. But Ørestad is already the location for a number of companies, organisations and educational institutions such as: Scandinavia's biggest convention centre, the Bella Center, the shopping centre Field's Copenhagen, with retail outlets and leisure facilities, the pharmaceutical company Ferring, Copenhagen IT College, the Norwegian insurance company KLP and NCC Denmark's 5,000 sq m business park.
