Danish and International Stars Headline Copenhagen Music Week
Infernal, The Killers, Blue Foundation and Pink are some of the stars headlining the programme for Copenhagen Music Week from October 25th - November 2nd. The music week features a broad range of primarily Danish, but also foreign artists, whose appearances here are meant to showcase Copenhagen as an international music city.
With more than one million singles sold of the recent hit that took everyone "From Paris to Berlin" by storm, Infernal has become one of Danish music's leading export success stories. They will be one of the main attractions on stage Wednesday, November 1st at Pumpehuset.
That same evening, the Las Vegas band The Killers will perform their hit "When you were young" live at Vega. Also performing at Vega will be Denmark's Blue Foundation (soundtrack to the film version of Miami Vice) and the young Danish electro-rockers, Veto. Roskilde Festival presents the concerts in cooperation with MTV.
On the other side of town, Hotel Fox has Morten Fresh and Mark Sheridan rocking the house, while Trentemøller and Band Ane are among the names topping the list at Culture Box. Over at Copenhagen Jazz House Baroque Fever meets Jon Blake, Frederik Lundin and Trine-Lise Væring. A-Huset will also be jamming to the early hours Thursday morning where Crunchy Frog presents a line-up including Diefenbach and Epo-555.
That is just a sampling of one day of the programme for Copenhagen Music Week that kicks off with Pink followed by arrangements featuring The Pipettes, Lisa Nilsson and Mid-Week Break DJs at Rust.
Event director Martin Bender, Wonderful Copenhagen:
- Regardless of whether you're waiting for a train, riding a bus, on your way to the airport or buying a hot dog at city hall square, you can't help but experience the vibe of Copenhagen Music Week as it takes over the city. The performances of the more than 170 artists scheduled to appear, however, have to be enjoyed at the designated venues. We are pleased to be presenting such a wide-ranging programme for a completely new and hopefully recurring musical event that, to a great extent, appeals to an international audience.
In addition to concerts, Copenhagen Music Week also features film, video art, mini-festivals and other arrangements organised by record labels and the alternative music scene. Whether you prefer rock, pop, jazz, funk, electronic or hip hop, there will be plenty of opportunity to enjoy it during Copenhagen Music Week, when jazz meets hip hop, classic fuses with pop, or rock and electronica become one.
Copenhagen Music Week is an exceptional platform from which to show the international potential of the Copenhagen music scene to the rest of the world. That is why the programme consists primarily of Danish acts. The arrangements take place during the week leading up to the MTV Europe Music Awards when the international music industry and press is gathered together in Copenhagen.
