Children solve climate problems at Bella Center
In May 700 children and teenagers from 49 countries will gather in Copenhagen, Denmark, for an event called Children's Climate Call. Here they will present innovative solutions to the various climate problems facing the world today.
The invasion of hundreds of youngsters from around the world in early May will certainly leave an indelible mark on the city. The youngsters are all winners of the numerous national and regional FIRST LEGO League tournaments, which, since September 2008, have engaged 140,000 participants in tackling problems related to climate change.
The ultimate goal of the many youngsters taking part in the event is to become the overall winner of the world's largest technology tournament for children and teenagers, FIRST LEGO League, held this year at Bella Center in Copenhagen from 2-3 May. The youngsters have engaged in finding ways to solve local and global climate-related problems, and in May the overall winner will be announced.
Free entrance
A FIRST LEGO League tournament resembles a large sporting event, complete with loud music, cheering crowds, intense competition, as well as impressive trophies and glory for the winning team. Winning a FIRST LEGO League tournament takes more than just innovation. The winning team has to work together, immerse itself in the competition and love to compete.
Bella Center is open to the public on both days from 10am - 3.30pm (entry is free). Excitement is guaranteed, whether the teams are presenting their climate solutions to the panel of judges or competing against each other to steer a LEGO MINDSTORMS® robot through a challenging obstacle course in under 2½ minutes.
In addition to the tournament, visitors to Bella Center will also have a chance to experience the science show from Cirkus Naturligvis, program and test a LEGO MINDSTORMS robot, experience Vestas' Airport Show and participate in different building activities with a chance of winning attractive LEGO sets.
