Latest news from World Outgames
Gay athletes and tourist from all over the world are flocking to World Outgames 2009 in Copenhagen, Denmark, 25 July to 2 August 2009 to take part in the largest multisport and culture event for lesbians, gays, bisexuals and transgender men and women (LGB
T) this summer.
At the time of writing, more than 25 % of those registered come from the USA and Canada, just below 10% are from Australia and New Zealand and of course the Europeans are well represented with participants from more than 30 different countries. A total of estimated 8000 participants from around 100 countries and thousands of tourist are expected to take part in the 38 sports tournaments, countless cultural festivals and an international conference on LGBT Human Rights.
Activities all over Copenhagen
For nine days, Copenhagen will be the setting for one of the world's largest events for homosexuals, bisexuals and the transgender community. The focal point is a massive program of sports events, which can best be described as an ‘Olympics for lesbians, gays, bisexuals and transgender men and women (LGBT)'. The World Outgames 2009 will further more include extensive queer cultural activities and enormous parties for participants and Copenhageners.
