Hopenhagen Live

During the UN Climate Change Conference in Copenhagen the City Hall Square will be transformed into a giant venue hosting Hopenhagen Live, where you can experience future solutions for climate change, concerts and a 20 meter tall globe showing the world's concern for the climate issue.

When leaders of 192 different countries gather at the UN Climate Change Conference in Copenhagen there will be lots of activities all over the city. With almost 90 different cultural events during the two weeks the summit lasts Copenhagen will be the center of climate change solutions.

City Hall Square  will be assemblance point 7 - 18 December 2009, when Hopenhagen Live fills the square with guests, exhibitions and concerts. The music will be by international artists as well as Danish, such as Outlandish and Malk de Koijn.

Furthermore there will be international high profile names such as the world famous human right activist Desmond Tutu from South Africa. On 13 December he will hand over the result of a petition, which is meant to put pressure on the international delegates who are negotiating a climate change agreement in Copenhagen.

Giant globe at City Hall Square

No one will doubt, whether they are at City Hall Square. A 20 meter tall globe will be placed in the middle of the square. A projector will light up the globe so it appears as a twinkling model of the Earth in the December darkness.

The globe will change appearence according to the world's dedication to the climate issue. Via the Internet and mobile phones the world's population can express their concern for the climate and at the same time send a message to politicians that something must be done.

The amount of text messages and emails will affect the globe's appearence. If the dedication is high, the globe will look healthy and in natural colours. If the dedication declines, the gigant globe changes to a more gloomy appearence.

Try the future at Hopenhagen Live

There will be tents with 17 different stands at City Hall Square where you can experience future climate solutions. Behind the stands are a wide range of companies and organisations, for example the Danish Broadcast Corporation and Københavns Energi (Copenhagen's Energy).

When you feel hungry after attending concerts, lectures and exhibitions, several of Copenhagen's organic restaurants (for example Bio Mio and Meyers Madhus) will be ready to sell you a meal prepared in consideration of the climate.

Hopenhagen Live is part of the global Internet campaign Hopenhagen. The campaign is created by international advertisement companies and supported by the UN. The goal is to create a grass root level organisation that will influence the politicians to agree on an ambitious result at the climate conference in Copenhagen.
