Europe's largest beer festival in Copenhagen
From 12 - 14 September 2008, the old Carlsberg site at Valby will be the venue for Europe's largest beer festival. The European Beer Festival will present an impressive programme represented by the entire Danish beer universe and supplemented with the finest foreign breweries and beers.
Visitors to the festival can expect a mixture of a beer fest and an exquisite gourmet event when Carlsberg's legendary and traditional depot in Copenhagen is transformed into a true beer eldorado offering samples of all conceivable types of beer. On guided tours experts will give an introduction to selected beers, and as a unique feature the visitors to the beer festival will be invited to join a special tour of Carlsberg. This tour will go through areas that have not previously been accessible to the public and this in itself makes the European Beer Festival an exciting attraction.
- We are really looking forward to opening the doors to the first European Beer Festival. It is the first beer festival ever to gather so many different beers from all over the world in one place. We are also looking forward to welcoming Copenhageners and visitors from other countries, says Marttin Stuart Nielsen, the European Beer Festival Manager.
Beer from all over Europe
At the beer festival visitors will be able to wet their taste buds to experience how Danish micro breweries compare with their both small and large counterparts in Europe.
- The European Beer Festival is primarily a celebration of beer culture and a unique opportunity to have a pleasant and happy time with good friends. At the same time it will be possible to see how far we have come in the art of beer brewing, here in our small country. Much has happened since the first micro breweries saw the light of day less than a decade ago, and today more breweries are producing beer of a very high quality and in far larger volumes than previously, says Marttin Stuart Nielsen. He promises that the beer festival will also provide an opportunity for visitors to satisfy their hunger. Organic food of many varieties will be served, and there will be music and entertainment both inside and outside the festival area.
More than 20,000 people are expected to visit the European Beer Festival, which will transform one of the world's most traditional brewery areas into a true beer fest on 12, 13 and 14 September.
