Press information Denmark has a new royal playhouse
Café and restaurantFrom early morning at 8 am till midnight the café and restaurant are open for both theatregoers and passers-by alike. Enjoy a coffee in the morning, experience the afternoon box office buzz or evening excitement as theatregoers arrive for performances. Or stroll along the scenic oak footbridge, which connects the foyer with Nyhavn and the city's main harbour front promenade, Langelinie. Spectacular architectureThe playhouse was masterminded by Danish architects Lundgaard & Tranberg and is approximately 20,000 square metres big - about half the size of the Royal Danish Theatre's opera house across the harbour. The dark relief-patterned cladding on interior and exterior walls is crafted from ceramic tiles kilned using English fireclay, the stage tower exterior is clad with copper, and the footbridge is made of oak timber. Artwork in the foyer is by visual artist Finn Reinbothe, while two special conference/ VIP rooms have been designed by the artists John Kørner and Peter Holst Henckel respectively. The ambiance lighting in the large sheathed glass façade of the 3rd floor is designed by lighting designer Jesper Kongshaug. Further information
