Press information Olympic winners attend World Cup BMX SupercrossOn Saturday 9 May the finals of the 2009 World Cup BMX Supercross kick off in Copenhagen. The medal winners at the former Olympic Games are among the 120 riders on the starting list at the BMX-track in Copenhagen, which is said to be one of the best in the world.
An afternoon full of action awaits the spectators, who are offered exciting top sport, rock concert, dj, events and various happenings both at the track and in the "spectator city", established especially for the BMX event. Bike City Copenhagen
The UCI BMX Supercross World Cup is part of Bike City Copenhagen (BCC), which Crown Prince Frederik is protector for. Copenhagen is the only city in the world, which has been appointed as Bike City by the UCI by now and between 2008 and 2011 Copenhagen is host of 6 major international cycling events. The UCI BMX Supercross World Cup is part of the Danish Year of Sport 2009. More than 50 international sporting events and congresses will be staged all year round in many parts of the country with the IOC Session and Congress in Copenhagen in October as the crown jewel. The events will all together brand Denmark nationally and internationally as a strong sports event nation under the slogan of "Inviting the World of Sport". Read more here.
