Danish cooking has undergone something of a revolution in the last decade or so with the establishment of the New Nordic Kitchen, the World’s Best restaurant noma, 15 Michelin-starred restaurants (2014) and great reviews from world famous medias like Condé Nast Travel and Wallpaper.

The focus on Copenhagen as a gastronomic destination has also led to a whole new bunch of other great, quality restaurants with reasonable prices which are very popular among the local Copenhageners.

Especially popular are the two restaurant chains Cofoco (an abbreviation of Copenhagen Food Company) which now owns a total of 10 different restaurants spread around Copenhagen - and Madklubben (the Food Club) which runs nine different restaurants. All the restaurants are very different in taste and style, but have specialised in serving a very affordable two-, three- or four-course dinner of high quality.

Depending on which area of Copenhagen you are staying in, there are lots of great and reasonable restaurants for every taste. Especially around the hip and trendy Meatpacking District in Vesterbro, you will find popular and high-quality restaurants like PatéPaté, Nose2tail, Mother, BioMio and Kjøbenhavn.

Michelin star in Nørrebro

In the area around the multicultural Nørrebro area you will find the affordable restaurants Manfred’s og Vin, Oyster and Grill and the urban and experimental Relæ. Relæ was awarded with a Michelin star for the first time in 2012 and the restaurant offers you a four-course menu for only approx. EUR 50. At Manfred’s og Vin the focus is on rustic staple food, modern techniques and material of high quality - and an exquisite winecard. Located on a side street to Nørrebrogade is Oyster & Grill, a relaxed and cosy restaurant situated in a rustic apartment, mixes steaks and seafood in a 'no fuss' way.

In the elegant and posh Østerbro you find Gustav’s Bistro which is a French bistro based on local, sustainable food and with wine directly from the source as possible.
