Last year on December 31 a new tradition began in Copenhagen, when the local winter bathers club ‘Vinterbad Bryggen’ invited everyone to take a cool dip in the harbour pool at Islands Brygge.
Around 500 people showed up and 200 of them dared to take a quick swim in the cold water.
The harbour pools in Copenhagen are very popular among Copenhageners, especially in the summertime.
The open air bathing facilities in the centre of the city - just a few minutes’ walk from the Town Square -attracts thousands of people during the warm months in July-August.
The harbour pools are located at Islands Brygge, At Fisketorvet in the districet of Vesterbro, and the newest harbour pool called ‘The Coral Bath’ opened in 2012 and is located in Sydhavnen in the area around Sluseholmen.
If you are interested in exploring how the water at the harbour pool feels in the end of December, then show up on December 31 this year between 12-13 PM. In the meantime – check out this video from last year’s arrangement.
