Ever heard of democratic fashion? That’s Danish design for you! The key words are: Wearable, affordable and coolness with a twist.

Many of the new young Danish designers have won international acclaim, and the likes of Noir have made it their mission to make fashion sustainable. Fine graphic prints is a specialty for designer Stine Goya and Henrik Vibskov and a hit for the fashion conscious Copenhageners.

In Copenhagen shopping is centered around the famous pedestrian street, Strøget, and the many side streets which are full of independent retailers and small, exclusive boutiques.  Neighborhoods such as Vesterbro, Østerbro and Nørrebro also offer great shopping for the younger crowd.

Danish designers Rikke Baumgarten and Helle Hestehave founded Baum und Pferdgarten in 1999. In Copenhagen you will find their store in Vognmagergade.

The Danish fashion house, Bruuns Bazaar, designs clothes for both men and women and accessories such as shoes, belts and sunglasses.

Malene Birger's prêt-a-porter line is characterised by a classical elegance spiced up with a sexy sofistication - sometimes classic at other times flamboyant.

Day Birger et Mikkelsen creates clothes for men, women and children, as well as accessories and home interior. The fashion house has a large concept store in Pilestræde.

Founded in 1997, DAY Birger et Mikkelsen has grown to become one of Scandinavia's most successful fashion brands. It is inspired by Asian tailoring and culture.

Designers Remix Collection has its own store in Pilestræde in Copenhagen as well as in the department stores ILLUM and Magasin du Nord.

Designers Remix is an international high-end line of clothing designed to be as unpredictable as the women who wear them. In a style that’s sexy, edgy and slightly askew.

Danish fashion's rebel kid Henrik Vibskov runs a shop in Krystalgade in Copenhagen. Both the decor and collection are designed with the fantasy and originality that characterise Vibskov.

The clothes is trendy yet wearable, and loved by the Copenhagen hipster crowd as well as a growing number of fans abroad.

ILLUM is Copenhagen's premium department store. A skillfully decorated shopping paradise, offering everything from fashion and beauty to home décor and design.

You will find many in store shops in ILLUM such as Acne, Paul Smith and Won Hundred. The beauty department offers all the international brands and a large collection of ecological skin products.

Danish designer Mads Nørgaard's philosophy behind his clothing line is to "make women sexier and men rougher - with a modernist gleam in the eye".

You will find both basic t-shirts, edgy denim and cool dresses with an edgy yet feminine touch. The prices are reasonable and the clothes wearable.

A cool prize winning design store located in an old 1700 m2 cinema at Østerbro.

Here you can find Normann design - furniture, vases, chairs etc. Expect traditional materials put into untraditional use such as a washing-up bowl in rubber, a vase made out of Silicon and a dog made out of plastic.
