Copenhagen has a new climate-friendly bus route. The electric driven CityCirkel buses run every seven minutes and take you to some of Copenhagen's top attractions. Your ticket for the ordinary buses, trains and Metro is also valid on the CityCirkel buses.
Line 11 CityCirkel (city circle) is Copenhagen's new electric bus route. The buses run all day on electricity from batteries which are charged during night time. Thus the electric driven buses emit less CO2 than cars and ordinary buses. While there is no pollution from exhaust fumes and hazardous particles from the new buses.
Where can I catch the CityCirkel buses?
The CityCirkel buses run in central Copenhagen. The circular trip takes one hour, during which you pass some of Copenhagen's top tourist sights and attractions, such as City Hall Square, Ny Carlsberg Glyptotek, Tivoli, The National Museum, Christiansborg Palace, Nyhavn and The Round Tower.
The buses are shorter and narrower than ordinary buses. Therefore, they can run in the narrow streets of the medieval city where the ordinary buses cannot. However, the CityCirkel buses still connect with other means of public transport in Copenhagen at City Hall Square, Kongens Nytorv, Copenhagen central train station, Nørreport and Vesterport station as well as with the water buses.
The buses stop at the normal bus stops, wherever it is possible. But the CityCirkel buses also have their own bus stops, and in some places they can be hailed with a wave, wherever you find green dots at the curb.
When can I catch the CityCirkel buses?
The buses run every seven minutes on weekdays at 9:00 - 20:00, Saturdays at 10:00 - 16:00 and Sundays and public holidays at 11:00 - 15:00.
How much is a ride on the CityCirkel buses?
Tickets and cards used for public transport in Copenhagen are also valid on the CityCirkel line. The buses run in Zone 1, which means you have to purchase a two-zone ticket at DKK 21. With time, the plan is to make the buses completely free of charge. But for now tickets can be purchased on board the bus. Remember to have coins ready.
