When visiting Copenhagen the Metro is a safe, fast and easy way to get around. Actualy it was awarded with the prize for the world's best Metro in 2010.
All Metro stations are marked with a red M. There are two lines, M1 runs from Vanløse Station to Copenhagen Airport in East Amager, and M2 runs from Vanløse Station to Ørestad in West Amager. Both lines take you through the heart of the city.
Driverless trains
The trains are driverless and fully automatic, but with Metro stewards on the train. In addition all trains and stations are equipped with CCTV.
Metro around the clock
The driverless Metro trains operates at four - six minutes' intervals during the day and evening hours and every 15 - 20 minutes during the night.
Between Christianshavn and Vanløse the intervals during rush hour are only two minutes.
Between 01:00 - 01:30 and 04:00 -04:30 you will have to wait a little longer, as the trains switch from nighttime to daytime operation and vice versa.
The City Ring
The next extension of Copenhagen's Metro, the City Ring, will feature 17 stations and link the "Bridge Quarters" of the city with the city centre via an underground tunnel ring. The City Ring will be completed in 2018.
Tickets
Tickets for the Metro are available at the Metro station and at the DSB ticket sales counter in Terminal 3.
If you purchase a CPHCARD it also gives you free transportation on the Metro.
