Copenhagen K and DowntownKong Hans lies right in the middle of Copenhagen just behind Kongens Nytorv, the large square at the top of Nyhavn with the Hotel d'Angleterre and the Magasin department store.
The story of Kong Hans Kælder goes back to 1976, making it one of the oldest gourmet establishments in the city. It received a Michelin star in 1983.
The foundation is classical French gastronomical tradition, and Thomas Rode has been at the helm since 1996. He oversees the preparation of exclusive ingredients such as lobster, foie gras, truffles, caviar and fine local vegetables, fish and meat with knowledgeable expertise. A gourmet experience is guaranteed, and prices reflect the very high quality.
The manager Thilde Maarbjerg is one of Denmark's best sommeliers, and so the wine list is one of the best in the country, dominated by old world wines with some seldom seen surprises from lesser-known spots too.
