Tivoli bredTivoli A/S and Arp-Hansen Hotel Group A/S have reached a strategic cooperation agreement regarding Arp-Hansen Group's development of an exciting, new, thematic, 400-room TIVOLI HOTEL. The hotel will open at the same time as Copenhagen's new TIVOLI CONGRESS CENTER Downtown Copenhagen at the end of 2010 on the Arp-Hansen Hotel Group A/S site at Kalvebod Brygge.

This development realises a long-held dream for Tivoli A/S, to be able to provide its guests with a total experience and create an exciting thematic hotel close to the amusement park. The hotel profile is geared both to business guests and the family segment and simultaneously provides an excellent launching-pad for Arp-Hansen Group's plan to provide a major new congress centre for Copenhagen. With its central location, this congress centre will enable Copenhagen to attract even more major congresses, conferences and other events.

The congress complex will have SEB Bank and the National Archives as its neighbours, and is a mere 1000 metres from the Tivoli main entrance. During the Tivoli season, a shuttle bus for hotel guests will operate between the Tivoli Hotel and the amusement park.

Arp-Hansen Hotel Group A/S took over the site on April 1, 2008 and has already planned an exciting site development in collaboration with Architect Kim Utzon. Apart from a congress hall for 2,500 guests, plans are for several larger and smaller conference rooms. The Tivoli Hotel, the congress hall and the many conference facilities are expected to open in the second half of 2010.

"For many years Tivoli has wanted to develop its tourism value business. A family-class Tivoli hotel is a good extension of our strategy to create a more year-round business that is less susceptible to, for example, changes in the weather. This spring we will be opening our first hotel with 13 luxury suites at Nimb - which will take us some of the way - primarily at the exclusive end of the scale. With the agreement with Arp-Hansen, we are taking a giant leap in relation to the family and business segment with a hotel partner known for high quality and good service," says Tivoli CEO Lars Liebst.

"We see this strategic cooperation as a perfect match between two long-standing actors in the Copenhagen tourism business and as a strength for our companies, that together we can create some new frameworks for tourists and conference guests in Copenhagen. It is our intention that with this project also, we will be faithful to our philosophy for hotel management - to create a unique hotel, in a unique building and in a unique location. There will be a lot for our future guests to look forward to," says Arp-Hansen Hotel Group A/S CEO Dorte Krak.

The Tivoli amusement park is not just Denmark's most-visited tourist attraction, but also an institution, a bearer of traditions, a national symbol and a listed company. Internationally Tivoli has a special status as one of the world's oldest amusement parks, with a 165-year history. Tivoli has more than 4.5 million visitors each year spread across three seasons.

Arp-Hansen Hotel Group A/S has operated hotels since 1961 and is currently Copenhagen's largest hotel chain with some 1,700 rooms in nine hotels. The hotels are managed and run under the name Arp-Hansen Hotel Group. The group's prominent hotels are Phoenix Copenhagen, 71 Nyhavn Hotel, Imperial Hotel, Grand Hotel, The Square, Copenhagen Island, Copenhagen Strand, Hotel Opera and Gentofte Hotel.

The hotels are characteristic in that they are all located at the best addresses in Copenhagen - for example Town Hall Square, Nyhavn, Bredgade, near the Royal Theatre, Havnegade, The Central Railway Station/Tivoli and Vesterport Station.
