Press Information Gastronomic HotelsDine in a hotel? Might not sound tempting at first but in Copenhagen locals do it, as these days the city bucks the trend of traditional hotel restaurants concept of prawn cocktails and ice cream deserts. Hotels in Copenhagen offer some of the finest dining in the city, courtesy of Denmark's leading chefs. FOX Kitchen & Bar opened in January 2006 in Hotel Fox, where 21 designers from all over the world have decorated the 61 individually designed rooms. Ingredients are Nordic, seasonal, healthy and highly nutritious. Head chef Anders Barsøe has been called home from New York, where he has worked at the ultra-innovative WD-50. Kitchen and bar work closely together in a new constellation: A specific cocktail is recommended for each course - this has been developed to give your taste buds a special thrill. FOX Kitchen carries on the hotel design look in newly renovated premises, where the Australian artist group Pandarosa has decorated the walls just as they have done the hotel reception. The restaurant of 250-year-old Hotel D'Angleterre on the Kongens Nytorv Square has undergone a complete refurbishment and change of image. In the interior the colours amber, caramel, terracotta, “chocolate” and gold prevail. The tables are quite unique, covered in multicoloured tiny glass mosaics. In these surroundings you can enjoy an international cuisine based on the classical French On the ground floor of Hotel Admiral you will find Restaurant Salt. This quite unusual name stems from the late 1700s when the building served as a warehouse and bags of salt were kept here. Rasmus Møller Nielsen comes from Restaurant Pierre André and has chosen to preserve an exclusive French "brasserie" style. The interior has been designed by Sir T. Conran. A relative newcomer to the city's restaurant scene is Alberto K, named after legendary, former managing director, Alberto Kappenberger, and placed on the 20th floor of Arne Jacobsen's famous Radisson SAS Royal Hotel. The hotel has received glowing reviews for its beautifully presented dishes and good views of the city. The furniture and decor pay homage to the building's designer, while the food allies Nordic ingredients with the best of the new Italian kitchen. An impressive stock of fine Italian wines completes the picture of one of the city's most desirable restaurants. The Royal's sister hotel, the Radisson SAS Scandinavia Hotel on Amager, also boasts one of the city's best restaurants, The Dining Room. With similarly impressive views from the 25th floor across the Øresund to Sweden, The Dining Room is a popular place to watch the sun set and enjoy a meal prepared by chef Christian Hvid Mortensen. In the Hilton Copenhagen Airport (connected to the airport by a covered walk way), the restaurant Hamlet Nordic Grill has made an enviable name for itself in a short space of time. It is situated in a light and airy glass corner overlooking the lobby, and its menu offers a mix of international cuisines and a Nordic touch. Three internationally recognised Danish artists, Jens Birkemose, Peter Bonde and Erik A. Frandsen, have integrated art in the architectural design of the Hilton Hotel. Erik A. Frandsen has painted all the paintings in the restaurant areas and club lounge.
North of Copenhagen The Skovshoved Hotel is located in the fashionable residential area Skovshoved, north of Copenhagen next to the ocean and beach. Here you can enjoy French/Danish inspired food, and in the summertime food can be served on a terrace in beautiful surroundings. Friday and Saturday popular Danish DJ’s sets the mood in the Lounge area.
The Best of the rest Restaurant D'Angleterre opens after a total renovation. Rasmus Kofoed, recent bronze medal winner of the international Bocuse d'Or-competition and Søren Ledet, chef of the year 2004, can be found at the stoves in the kitchen, which promises a unique gourmet experience in this restaurant of the 'grand old lady hotel' in Copenhagen. With a prime location in the oak-beamed cellar of a picturesque converted warehouse at the end of Nyhavn, 71 Nyhavn Hotel's Restaurant Pakhuskælderen is a favourite of tourists who throng to the popular quay side bars and restaurants. One of the more romantic venues in the city, Restaurant Pakhuskælderen's menu matches the mood of the seasons with the freshest local ingredients prepared in a classic style. The PLaza Hotel by the Central station has a fine restaurant called Flora Danica, but what is especially worth mentioning is the Plaza Library Bar - a stately, wood-panelled library bar similar to a London gentleman's club and voted by Forbes Magazine one of the ten best of its kind in the world. Fridays and Saturdays offer live jazz from 10pm. In the restaurant of new life-style hotel Front, with a beautiful view of the waterfront, guests are offered a certain liberty of choice and you are shown a respect for individual wishes and demands, you can combine the various dishes as you want and the service aims at pampering you.
