Might not sound tempting at first but in Copenhagen locals do it, as these days the city bucks the trend of traditional hotel restaurants concept of prawn cocktails and ice cream deserts. Hotels in Copenhagen offer some of the finest dining in the city, courtesy of Denmark's leading chefs. NIMB's former grandeur has now been revived at the legendary Tivoli address. The key word for Tivoli's ambitious transformation of NIMB is quality - both in architectural expression, in furniture, and in everything that NIMB produces. The building has undergone extensive renovation to restore the famous facade facing Tivoli to its original appearance from 1908. May 2008 saw the opening of a brasserie and a Michelin starred gourmet restaurant, Restaurant Herman. Restaurant Herman is dedicated to Danish classics like "Burning Love" and "Shooting Star" - but be prepared for a radical and affectionate interpretation! In the more informal brasserie, Nimb Restaurant, the kitchen is the restaurant, you sit next to the chef and your meal is prepared virtually under your nose; no obscure tricks, no shortcuts. NIMB is also a charming all suite hotel with 13 rooms, all under one roof. In the basement the Vinotek offers more than 30 wines by the glass with 1000 wines on display. In April 2010 Cofoco (short for Copenhagen Food Company) opened a gastropub by the name of Public House Gastropub in Hotel Kong Frederik, serving both lunch and dinner. Pubs in England were originally called `Public Houses´. In November 2009 the world famous bakery Andersen Bakery will establish a bakery and cafe in NIMB. NIMB is also a charming all suite hotel with 13 rooms, all under one roof. In the basement the Vinotek offers more than 30 wines by the glass with 1000 wines on display The restaurant of 250-year-old Hotel D'Angleterre on the Kongens Nytorv Square has undergone a complete refurbishment and change of image. In the interior the colours amber, caramel, terracotta, “chocolate” and gold prevail. The tables are quite unique, covered in multicoloured tiny glass mosaics. In these surroundings you can enjoy an international cuisine based on the classical French On the ground floor of Hotel Admiral you will find Restaurant Salt. This quite unusual name stems from the late 1700s when the building served as a warehouse and bags of salt were kept here. Rasmus Møller Nielsen comes from Restaurant Pierre André and has chosen to preserve an exclusive French "brasserie" style with a modern Danish twist. The interior has been designed by Sir T. Conran. A relative newcomer to the city's restaurant scene is Alberto K, named after legendary, former managing director, Alberto Kappenberger, and placed on the 20th floor of Arne Jacobsen's famous Radisson SAS Royal Hotel. The hotel has received glowing reviews for its beautifully presented dishes and good views of the city. The furniture and decor pay homage to the building's designer, while the food allies Nordic ingredients with the best of the new Italian kitchen. An impressive stock of fine Italian wines completes the picture of one of the city's most desirable restaurants. The Royal's sister hotel, the Radisson SAS Scandinavia Hotel on Amager, also boasts one of the city's best restaurants, The Dining Room. With similarly impressive views from the 25th floor across the Øresund to Sweden, The Dining Room is a popular place to watch the sun set and enjoy a meal.
North of Copenhagen The Skovshoved Hotel is located in the fashionable residential area Skovshoved, north of Copenhagen next to the ocean and beach. Here you can enjoy French/Danish inspired food, and in the summertime food can be served on a terrace in beautiful surroundings. Friday and Saturday popular Danish DJ’s sets the mood in the Lounge area. Hotel Skt. Petri is a five star hotel in Copenhagen's Latin Quarter. Originally the building was a very popular department store built by the Danish architect Wilhelm Lauritzen in 1928 with all the beautiful architectural lines and characteristic lines of functionalism. In 2008 they opened Brassiere Petri featuring Parisian classics with a young cosmopolitan edge and innovative wine-and-dine menus. At the Plaza Hotel by Central station you'll find the Library Bar - a stately, wood -panelled library bar similar to a London gentleman's club and voted by Forbes Magazine one of the ten best of its kind in the world, featuring live jazz every Saturday night 21:30-01:00. Rounding off our tour of gastronomic Hotels is an excellent brasserie, located within a stone's throw of Rådhuspladsen (the Town Hall square): The Hotel Alexandra's Vinbrasserie Bistroen KBH amid decor featuring classic Danish furniture, serves French food with a Scandinavian influence.
