Press Release: November 2004
Europe's biggest city hostel opening in Copenhagen
A five-star youth and family hostel opens next summer in the heart of Copenhagen. It's situated on the harbour front, right next to Tivoli and close to Copenhagen's 'red hot trendy spot', Vesterbro. With almost 700 beds, the Danhostel will be the biggest city hostel in Europe.
For a tourist in Copenhagen, it will only be a ten minutes' walk from the Copenhagen Central Station to a hostel and a good night’s sleep for 16 Euro (DKK 120). The hostel is only a few minutes away from Tivoli and the buzzling life of the city centre.
Danhostel Copenhagen City opens in mid-May 2005, and will be the biggest city hostel in Europe. Only a stone throw away, is the harbour area Islands Brygge named the up and coming quarter by Wallpaper when the magazine in 2004 selected Copenhagen as one of the world's ten coolest destinations. Islands Brygge boasts a new harbour pool area, restaurants and galleries. Not far away from the hostel is the former red light district Vesterbro, now one of the hippest places in Copenhagen with lounge bars, nightclubs, retro-kitsch clothes shops and cool design.
Danhostel has taken over a former multi-storey office building with an exceptional view of the city's green copper spires and the harbour. During spring 2005 the hostel will be refurbished with 600 - 700 beds in about 200 rooms all with bathrooms and toilets. The new, modern hostel will accommodate all types of guests: Families, singles, couples, seniors and pensioners. Especially the younger guests will find the central location and the opportunity to overnight for only 120 DKK (16 Euro) per night attractive. The 120 DKK rooms will have 8 beds and for less than 500 DKK (67 Euro) you can rent a double room. As every other big city in Europe, Copenhagen will now have a genuine city hostel.
