Copenhagen Fashion Weekend 6-10 February & 6-10 August 2008
Ranking among the top ten fashion centres in the world and a cool No. 1 in Scandinavia, Denmark has gradually risen to a high level of fashion consciousness hosting two annual trade-only fashion fairs called Copenhagen Fashion Week. And now Copenhagen Fashion Weekend, an-open-to-the public fashion event, has been launched alongside the trade-only fashion fairs, so fashionistas and shoppers alike can share the fashion vibe.

As a city of fashion, Copenhagen is the perfect setting for 'fashion for the people'. Over the last five years, Copenhagen has shown that this is the place to find some of the most stylish fashion boutiques and some of the most skilled designers.

Copenhagen Fashion Weekend in 2008 will focus on a wide range of fashion oriented events from fashion shows, styling, make-up and trends to shopping the new arrivals collections. All you have to do is check out the programme as it develops on the official website, so join in and celebrate fashion Copenhagen style.

Copenhagen Cooking - The Nordic Food Festival 22-31 August 2008
There is a reason why eight Copenhagen restaurants have achieved star classification in the Michelin Guide. There is a natural interest in international and national cuisine. During a week in late August, Copenhagen Cooking places food and gastronomy high on the agenda.

Copenhagen Cooking, is a tribute to the Nordic kitchen and food traditions with special emphasis on the excellent local products. The festival was launched in 2005 and was a tremendous success. This success was repeated in 2006, and 2007 topped both previous years in numbers of events and visitors. So, be prepared to experience culinary delights. Savour a luxury food exhibition and gourmet dining at a fraction of the price you'd normally expect to pay. Or eat in complete darkness at Black Box. Enjoy and bon appetite!

STRØM - festival for electronic music 12-17 August 2008
STRØM is a new kind of festival in Copenhagen for electronic music. Not a traditional festival, but rather a selection of the best and strongest purveyors of electronic music on the Copenhagen event scene. STRØM has been established in a cooperation between the Copenhagen City Council, DR/Public Service, VEGA, Amager Bio, ROSA, Wonderful Copenhagen and a number of the strongest and most important names in the Danish electronic world.

Ambitions are that in future STRØM is to become an annually recurrent and growing electronic event, placing it among the most important music events in Scandinavia. This takes time, but the artists, venues and clubs are all willing and prepared to put in the neccessary effort. STRØM is Danish for electricity - so STRØM for six days in August will 'light up' Copenhagen.

UCI Bike City Copenhagen 2009-2011
The UCI Bike City concept, developed by the International Cycling Union, is designed for internationally renowned cities wanting to get involved in cycling (from competition to sport for all), as an environmentally-friendly leisure sport and a gentle means of transport.

Copenhagen has great cycle traditions and exceptional good infrastructure for bikers. Few nations in the world use the bike for transportation like the Danes. Copenhagen has major focus on developing leisure cycling on a daily basis. The City of Copenhagen's official vision is to become the 'worlds best bike city'. Cities that obtain the UCI Bike City label will organise several events on the UCI international calendar such as World Cups, World Championships and other UCI series.

Copenhagen will organise the following UCI major events:

  • UCI BMX Supercross World Cup race in 2008 (10-11 May) and 2009 (TBC) Venue: TBC.
