![]() COP15 - now also on mobile phones![]() COP 15 is already said to be one of the most important conferences in Denmark ever. All in all, the climate summit and the alternative NGO summit will attract 15,000 visitors to Copenhagen. The thousands of visitors will be able to get information at the push of a button on their mobile phone when Wonderful Copenhagen and a number of partners launch a newly-developed mobile platform precisely for the climate summit. For delegates and people from the press at COP15 in Bella Center, the new mobile platform offers a constantly updated programme about the progress of the negotiations, as well as international news and not least practical information. Alongside the official summit in Bella Center, people from all over the world are meeting for the People's Climate Summit KlimaForum09. The programme for that event will also be available on the mobile phone platform, and delegates will also be able to stay up to date with the latest NGO news. While the two large conferences are happening in the city, more than 90 cultural climate events will be taking place around Copenhagen, and of course these can also be found with mobile phones. Last but not least, the mobile platform provides lots of information about what other activities visitors can find in Copenhagen - with information about everything from restaurants and museums to transport. - One thing is that we are now able to make all this information available directly to people's mobile phones while they are out and about - but the exciting thing about this project is also that visitors will be able to use their mobile phones to find their way around all the other climate activities in the city. They can also use their mobile phones to review and write comments about their experiences, says Ole Kjær Mansfeldt, project leader for the mobile platform and Research and Development Manager at Wonderful Copenhagen.
Tailor-made platform - The mobile platform will be developed further for Copenhagen Fashion Week in February 2010, and in the course of the coming year it will be possible for conferences and cultural events to develop tailor-made versions for their own users, just as tourists in Copenhagen will also be able to use their mobiles to get inspiration about things to see and do in Copenhagen, concludes Ole Kjær Mansfeldt.
How to get COP15 on your mobile: 2. The mobile platform is free to use, but users will be billed for data traffic by their network provider. 3. Use of WiFi is recommended where available. 4. The mobile platform works on a broad range of mobile phones. 5. It is possible to use both a solution which requires the user to download a small program, and a solution which does not. |
