In the old harbour district of Nyhavn, the World's 16 best archers will compete for World Cup medals when this year's Archery World Cup Final is to be held in Copenhagen on 26 September 2009. The International Archery Federation, FITA, is looking forward to a spectacular event.

"Copenhagen is a city that has a wonderful combination of the heritage of Danish culture, modern design and a sustainable development. This makes a perfect match with the values of the sport of Archery," says Tom Dielen, FITA Secretary General accompanied by Carlos Holgado, FITA Event Director when visiting Copenhagen and the venues before the event.

HRH The Crown Prince of Denmark guests the finals
All 16 archers who attend the World Cup Final are among the very best, including Olympic champions. It is the official opening for sports at the Olympic Congress, which takes place in Copenhagen from 1 October. HRH The Crown Prince of Denmark will attend the archery event in Nyhavn.

The finals take place in the area around the big anchor in Nyhavn. The archers will be shooting towards a bridge crossing the canal, and about 70 meters out into the canal. The public will be able to watch the World Cup Finals from both sides of the canal, one of them with grand stands. Wonderful Copenhagen expects around 3,000 spectators at the event.

In the city centre
The World Cup Finals is to be held in the centre of Copenhagen (Nyhavn) on 26 September from 10:00 to 17:00. It is free for the public (admission for the grand stands).

The event is organised by Wonderful Copenhagen in co-operation with the Danish and the International Archery Federations.
