The UCI Track Cycling World Championships and the UCI BMX Supercross World Cup will be bringing world-class cycle racing to Copenhagen again in 2010. The city will also be teeming with super-athletes when the Copenhagen Challenge Ironman takes place later in the year.
2009 was a big year for sport in Denmark and Copenhagen,
which culminated in the IOC Congress and the selection of Rio de Janeiro as host city for the 2016 Olympic Games.
The world's first 'Bike City'
But 2010 won't be in the previous year's shadow by any means.
This year there will once again be world-class cycle racing, as Copenhagen has been named the world's first UCI Bike City up until 2011.
UCI Track Cycling World Championships
From 24 to 28 March, New Zealand, Australia and Denmark are among the favourites to take gold when the world's elite get together for the UCI Track Cycling World Championships in Ballerup Super Arena just outside Copenhagen.
UCI BMX Supercross World Cup
Whereas speed is the crucial factor in the Track Cycling, BMX riders have to have their technique under control too.
One of the best BMX tracks in the world will be the appropriate setting for the best BMX riders in the world from 7 - 8 May 2010.
It is the third year running that Copenhagen is hosting the UCI BMX Supercross World Cup. The race is a warm-up for Copenhagen as host for the UCI BMX World Championships in 2011.
Challenge Copenhagen - Ironman
If the bike can't get your heart rate up on its own, then register right away for Copenhagen Challenge on 15 August 2010.
Swim 3.8 kilometres, cycle 180 kilometres and then run a marathon along the harbour front in Copenhagen, taking in many of Copenhagen's historic and famous attractions along the way.
If you don't actually want to 'Challenge Copenhagen' yourself, there will be ample opportunity to watch the athletes along the route.
